Pleasanton-bound

Davis High School found out Sunday it will travel to Pleasanton to take on Amador Valley in the first round of the Northern California State girls volleyball playoffs. Eight Northern California teams advanced to NorCals, which will begin Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (29-10) were seeded eighth and do avoid Homestead of Cupertino (27-10), one of the few teams to beat Nevada Union, the Sac-Joaquin Section finals winner that swept DHS for the second straight year.

Amador Valley (29-4) beat San Ramon Valley in four games for the North Coast Section championship. No statistics were available on maxpreps.com, but it looks like Duke-bound Sophia Dunworth and Katie Gellerman are the team's best players. According to maxpreps, the team finished with a 7-11 record a year ago.
